Introducing Frederick J. Ampel, TechDecisions, Chief AV Advisor
sound wave
By Cindy Davis

You might have noticed Frederick J. Ampel’s byline on some of our TechDecision Guides. We have come to depend on Frederick’s expertise so much that we decided to make his presence more formal. In his new advisory role as TechDecisions, Chief AV Advisor, Frederick will be sounding off in a weekly blog as well as answering any of your audio questions, contributing articles and vetting all things audio.

Frederick has been around the audio block. He is the president and principal of Technology Visions Analytics consulting in Overland Park, Kansas. His work in the pro A/V industry for over 40 years includes live sound reinforcement, broadcast audio production, audio systems design and installation, systems integration, hardware design and development, market assessment and analysis, small room acoustics and system integration. He was the founding editor of Sound & Video Contractor, Systems Contractor News and Residential Systems magazines and has chaired standards committees for AES and InfoComm. He is a life member of AES, a CEDIA Fellow and is proudly owned by a pair of Scottish Terriers.

We invite you to use Frederick as a resource for any audio related questions you might have in order so he can help you do your job better. While he won’t be recommending specific brands he certainly has an opinion and a great deal of expertise. From simple to challenging, Frederick will address your audio questions and help to provide solutions.

In Frederick’s first blog he deals with the realities of the imperfect rooms and the quest to achieve perfect sound.

We’re thrilled to have Frederick as a TechDecisions team member.

Send your questions along to me, as I will be compiling them for blogs and or articles. Remember that there are never, “stupid questions.”
