It wasn’t all that long ago that category-5 (Cat-5) or Ethernet cables were used solely for data networks. Today however, Cat-5 cabling is used for just about everything. Hyperbole aside, this cabling is now an important part of any commercial or residential systems installation.
The Southlake, Texas-based manufacturer Specialized Products Company‘s (SPC) new line of TrueConect RJ-type modular plug connectors can be used for many typical electronic systems installations. According to the company, its TrueConect products offer in-field technicians a choice of solutions that incorporate factory-finished contacts with 50mm gold-plating. The connectors are capable of conducting high-speed signals with better long-term reliability, according to SPC, thanks to the solution’s larger, gold-plated contacts. The products are normally made with varying thicknesses of 15mm, 30mm or 50mm (microns) and the solutions’ housing are made of thremoplastic, which SPC says enable the products’ durability.
The SPC RJ-type TrueConect modular connectors can be used for voice, data and video cabling installations.
